ABOUT US

Woodstar Café is a family-owned bakery, sandwich shop and full-service espresso bar located in downtown Northampton, MA. We bake from scratch using traditional techniques and pure ingredients. No preservatives. No trans-fats. And if we can go local and organic, boy, do we ever, including an ever-increasing quantity of free-range eggs, fruits, berries, and vegetables from our own nearby farm.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Full-time Bread/Pastry Baker

The Woodstar Cafe is seeking a full time baker to join our team. Duties include prepping, mixing, and baking sourdough breads, bagels, laminated doughs, quick breads, bars, cakes, and cookies. Applicants should be comfortable working independently with a high degree of accuracy. We are a busy, family owned business specializing in hand-made foods, using traditional methods and pure ingredients. One weekend day per week is a must as is the ability to start working between 3:45 am and 5 am depending on the day.

Key qualifications:

-A culinary degree from an accredited culinary college or equivalent work experience
-The ability to taste and work with gluten, nuts, eggs and most other ingredients typical to a high-end bake shop.
-A minimum of six months experience in a busy, scratch bakery.
-Knowledge of traditional breads and techniques from around the world.
-Ability to commit for one year.

Physical requirements:

-Ability to lift and control 50 pounds.
-Ability to lift 30 pounds in a range of motion from floor to overhead.
-Ability to work under a range of temperature conditions.
